About me
Joe Ugrin is an experienced academic leader, CPA, and former corporate finance executive who works at the intersection of education, technology, and professional practice. As Professor and RSM Chair of Accounting at the University of Northern Iowa, he leads a nationally ranked department dedicated to preparing students for the evolving demands of the accounting profession.
During his time as head, UNI achieved initial AACSB accounting accreditation in record time, becoming the first program globally to succeed through the organization’s accelerated pathway. The UNI accounting program became the world’s first STEM designated BA in accounting, launched a lhybrid BA program in Des Moines, expanded international partnerships, and earned national recognition for innovation, including the 2024 KPMG Accounting Program Innovation Award and the #1 CPA exam success rate in the U.S. (Accounting Today).
